GENDER ISSUES IN TRANSPORT PROJECTS
The topic of possible gender-based violence in construction projects carried out by the World Bank (WB) was discussed in the Transport Project Implementation Organization with the WB representatives. The WB studies have shown that the women and girls are exposed to violence during the implementation of transport programs. The Bank has adopted a policy to reveal such cases in transport projects and develop appropriate measures to address them.
According to the speaker, the World Health Organization data show that in every country sexual or physical violence is applied to every third woman in each country.
The representatives of the Transport Project Implementation Organization said that the women and girls are not involved in construction work in Armenia, so there were no cases of violence against them in this area.
